I love Vogue but ...

I'm not sure if I'm crazy about the latest limited edition Vogue/Oroton collaboration:



The Vogue brooches, the gem stones, the metal plate, the shiny python pattern leather, the chainmail all seem a bit ... too much even for my tacky taste. Besides the limited edition handbag, Oroton also designed another clutch and wallet:



The gem stone wallet isnt too bad, since there arent a thousand other details flying around. Apparently, Oroton wanted to do something different because as stated in the latest Vogue they're not the ones to simply copy trends. uhm .... are you thinking what i'm thinking? below's one of the spring summer burberry prorsum gem stone clutchs:


much for creativity eh? ... Also read the description of the limited edition bag: "It's the MUST HAVE BAG OF THE MILLENIUM, glamourous and bejewelled, a piece to treasure forever".

i'm excited about ...

The Rachel Zoe Project season 2! Okiez fine so i'm not the biggest fan of the whole Hollywood "tanorexic" boho chic trend that all celebrities copied from Mrs Zoe and called their own (did I just hear anyone scream out nicole and kate?!), but however find Rachel Zoe and her show to be extremely amusing, especially her random comments :D



so what can you expect this season?

"This upcoming season, the show will delve further into the inner workings of Team Zoe as they jet set from coast to coast, throwing charity auctions, attending store openings, and laboring to find the perfect gowns to adorn the red carpet during award season.

The new season includes some of the world's most influential and respected designers - Giorgio Armani, John Galliano, Christian Lacroix, Karl Lagerfeld, Giambattista Valli, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Matthew Williamson, among others.

Timed with her reality show’s second season premiere, Zoe will be launching a newsletter called The Zoe Report. Although there is no specific date for the first newsletter, it is said to be within the next few weeks. The newsletter site claims “it’s going to be bananas!” and subjects included in the newsletter will pertain to shoes, accessories, handbags, apparel, beauty, and lifestyle."

PS: I know i've been neglecting my blog since coming down to melbourne but hey this holiday is very much deserved and melbourne is always so so so fun! :D but i'm back now ... sort of ... soo hooray! :D

Update on melbourne

Melbourne has been GGREEEAAATT! it's always so so so so good to be back home, even when my ass is constantly freezing and all i do is sit around drink chocolate ... i mean ... warm water lol.

Managed to to go to the usual calibre, arthur galan, etc the other day, just visited chiodo, asssin (and met the extremely lovely lui from project runway last year) yesterday, been eating non stop like a crazy pig, but so far i've been enjoying melbourne so so so so so much!

I love Cathy Horyn for ...

being utterly honest and not giving a s*** about what others think. This is extracted from her recent post on the NYtimes:

" I found Riccardo Tisci’s (men's) collection for Givenchy just plain tedious. Heavy layers, black and white trousers in broken star patterns, gold metal stars scattered across tops, gold chain mesh t-shirts: a chaotic collection that tried to bully you into thinking this banal stuff was loaded with contemporary significance. Who were these dudes? On the whole, the clothes made me think of footballers who wear free designer clothes."

"Yesterday, while going around to the shows, a number of editors said to me, “The Givenchy look is contemporary—a lot of young guys dress like that.” And I replied, “That’s great, but it doesn’t mean the look is interesting.” To me, the Givenchy collection—the gold mesh top and leather shorts, the gold-studded tartan, the layers of baggy shorts over leggings, the Moroccan ethnic influences—smacks of the work of a stylist, rather than the specific vision of a designer. The collection has a cadged look of picking things up from here and yonder, notably Comme des Garcons. This method just betrays insecurity—the insecurity of a designer who doesn’t have a meaningful, real vision. No doubt the references in the collection could be explained by Tisci, but the best shows are generally clear to us—as well as the result of some kind of magic."

I love Tisci, but couldn't agree more with cathy's comments. bravo to the honest b****! lol jk



Now the multi million dollar question is: Imagine IF Cathy was invited to Aussie fashion week, and she ACTUALLY decided to go, which designers would receive good comments? I can't think of more than 3 ...
